Who We Are

Welcome to a warm friendly community and the only community to offer, to all Jewish people in the area, regular services, social and other activities. These take place inside our wonderful Synagogue and adjoining community hall, and at other venues in the Reading area. Reading Hebrew Congregation and our Synagogue in Goldsmid Road is, and has always been, the centre of Jewish Community life in Reading, Berkshire, UK and the surrounding area for over 135 years. We are an Independent Orthodox Synagogue operating under the auspices of the Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth. If you would like to visit us or are considering moving into the area please contact us first by email, phone or via our Facebook site. If you, individually or as a group wish to visit us please complete the Visitor form and submit it to us. We also have provided help and hospitality to many visitors and welcome any donations to help us to continue to provide these services.
